California Clarifies "Stay at Home" Order With List of Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers
After Governor Newsom issued his “stay at home” order on March 19, 2020, many business owners have sought clarity as to whether they are required to close, or whether they are allowed to remain open. On March 20th, 2020, the California State Public Health Officer provided some guidance, releasing a list of “Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers.” You can access that list here.
There remains a good deal of ambiguity for business owners. Many California municipalities and counties have issued “shelter in place” orders that may be more restrictive than what we have seen from the State government. The State of California’s COVID-19 website provides a county by county list, with links, that can give you a head start in determining any local restrictions also applicable to you; see that list here.
